Alex Nimely
graduates
Written by Horatio Bobby Willie
Liberian youth international Alex Nimley has become the latest African
striker to graduate from the Manchester City football club youth
academy.
Nimely was among seven youth players from several European countries
who earned a passage through the blues youth rank in June.
The Liberian teenager finished as top striker in the graduation that
saw two frontrunners walking out of the young Blues squad.
The Lone Star Striker scored over 20 goals for City in last season’s
youth competitions
He was ruled out at the close of the season when he injured his knee
in the FA Youth Cup semi-final against Arsenal
Cautioning his young graduates, the reserve team coach Jim Cassell
called on them to compete with superstars in the first team, despite
the huge cash splash on them.
Cassell believe the team that won the 2008 youth FA Cup and reached
the semi-finals of this years competition have the qualities to mix
with the top stars to give the Blues better side in the Premiership
this season.
He wondered why the senior team was after Samuel Eto’o and Carlos
Tevez when Robbie Mark and Alex Nimely are two top rated young
strikers.
