ACTION PACKED: Salgaocar’s Liberian striker Frank Seator (left) in action against Titanium on Tuesday.

KOCHI: He is built like a bull but is cool, composed and is a clinical finisher. Seasoned Liberian Frank Seator struck twice in an 18-minute spell as Salgaocar Sports Club defeated Travancore Titanium 2-0 in the ONGC Second Division National Football League at the Maharaja’s Stadium here on Tuesday evening.

Salgaocar, which took the third spot in the recent high-profile Goan Pro League, is clearly the best side here. The Goan side clearly dominated the proceedings after settling down by the half-hour mark with captain Rocus Lamare directing the moves smartly from the middle.

Touch drama

The opening goal had a touch of drama. Sushel Kesko advanced stealthily from the right wing and sent a smart cross to Seator.

Defender Dinraj attempted to thwart Seator but by doing so, he was also blocking goalkeeper Navas’ line. The wily Seator used the opportunity nicely and gently tapped the ball home in the 19th minute.

Seator also took his time while scoring his other goal. The cool striker trapped the pass from Francis Fernandes with his thigh and placed it in the right corner in the 37th minute.

In between, William Colaco had Bijen Singh’s freekick kissing the top of the crosspiece and a little later Francis Fernandes, who was fed nicely by Beevan, shot over.

Salgaocar had another good chance to increase the margin in the 78th minute when captain Rocus sent a curling freekick from the top of the box. The tall Brazilian defender, Eduardo Lacerda, broke away from the pack smartly but he could only head the ball over.

At the other end, for Titanium, the experienced midfielder Cleetus did much of the hard work but while the team’s Ghanian striker Enoch Amoago was marked well, Ebin Rose, the other forward, was clearly a big flop.

Ebin did not fit in, he lacked confidence and was slow, often failing to latch on to crosses.

Titanium’s best goal-move came towards the end, with Cleetus rushing in from the left and feeding Amoago but the latter narrowly missed.

Salgaocar has three points from one game while Titanium, from Thiruvananthapuram, has one from two games.

There will be no match on Wednesday and on Thursday, Salgaocar meets Viva Kerala in a crucial game.
