LIBERIAN DISCOVERED IN BELGIUM

As the hunt for young Liberian players in the diaspora continues,
another young and promising Liberian starlet has been discovered. pacy
winger Jimmy Johnson who is gifted with both legs in terms of his
conviction in kicking is in the fold of KFC St. Lenaarts of Belgium.
The 20 year old who was born in Belgium of a Liberian father and
Belgian mother, has spent all his years in Europe but is keen to come
to Liberia to feature for the Liberian national team the Lone Star. "I
have always yearned to play for Liberia, my country. I love Liberia a
whole lot", the fleet footed mazy runner cum maurauding winger told
liberiansoccer.com.
According to him, he was earlier in touch with veteran goalkeeper Momo
Blamo to link him with authorities of Liberian football, but all
proved furtile. "I have been in touch with momo Blamo for a long while
to link me with the Football Association or Sports Ministry officials
where i would be invited, but this has never happened", the sharp
shooter hinted.
He further narrated that he religiously follow Liberian football via
the internet and was very sad when so many people died during the
Liberia, Gambia 1-1 draw at the SKD in June 2008 due to
overcrowdedness. "I felt very sad and down when all those people died
while cheering their country.
In the future the right steps must be put in place to curtail such an ugly
act", the youngster indicated.
Johnson spent some years in Germany before his family moved back to
Belgium. he says he cannot wait to feature for Liberia, and is itching
to get the chance to come for country. "My game maturity has grown. I
have made vast improvement in several areas of my game, and i believe
I can help the Lone Star compete with the likes of Ivory Coast, Ghana,
Nigeria and the rest of Africa to be a formidable force on the
continent", A positive minded Jimmy Johnson further revealed.
The lad is a linchpin at KFC St. Lenaarts as the coaching crew
describe him as an asset.
With this latest discovery, the need for the football authorities to
step up the pace in organizing programs for the Lone Star is once more
of serious importance.
