Media reports emanating from Monrovia that the U-23 team of Liberia is
gearing up for the 2004 Olympic Qualifiers could be entreated as a
wakeup call for her progressing footballers.
But Liberia football team has never been represented at the world
greatest sporting fiesta, and with uncertainty scouring through
Liberia football holding finances as an obvious hiccup, what more can
these young players be inspired of.
Frustrated by the growing wave of symbolic strike between the FA and
the Sports Ministry, the opportunities for breeding talents to sell
are dashed on more than a few fronts.
Not a single Liberian club plays in the CAF competitions, the chance
to participate in the All-African games Qualifiers was shattered,
reasons that have sprung potential players into exile.
As football tries to overtake the Olympic attractive event-Tract &
Field, the pursuit of qualifying has become much more enormous.
Amidst the cries of lament surround Liberia players’ participation in
these competitions, the FA decisions are overriding and must be
distinctly hot to ensure the team participation.
Ghana is certified by CAF as providing the best youth football
programs. They too, are exerting enormously on their various youth
teams, treating the U-23 team as a future Black Stars.
The Black Meteors appear terribly dreadful for an atypical Liberian
opponents verging from the level of experienced players in their fold.
On pedigree, the Ghanaians are the favorites having been in training
camp at Winneba-Ghana Football College, for a considerable length of
time now.
But because football resonates a melodious tone that sometimes
distress the greatest analysts, Liberian players that have had a long
allegory with the Ghanaians could make legs tasteful.
Talking of Buduburam Football Club that competes in the Ghanaian
Regional 2nd division League and missed the 1st division playoff
outside the pitch is a Lone Star in disguise. The Refugee team and
other Liberian teams gifted with lovely skills, have an engaging
history with Ghanaian Premium teams. Smearing with ex-Lone Star
players and a host of semi-professional players, the blend will
provide a perfect team.
Having tested Champion club Accra Hearts of Oak, Obuasi Goldfields,
Liberty Professional, Abedi Pele’s Nania FC and others that makeup the
Black Meteors, theirs might serve as a long awaited mission.
The opportunity to authorize them represent Liberia leaving politics
out off the game, will confirm a point and salt away huge cash, thus
lifting the moral of the players.
