The ensuing development that the Liberia
Football Association is pondering the holding of a Premier League is
an exceedingly easier said than done initiative. But conceiving a
proposal is one thing and making it comes into effect is another.
After all, there have been several other proposals of the Liberian FA
that have failed to yield realization.
Meanwhile, one wonder why a Premier League at this time when
in fact the First Division League is yet to live up to the average
level of contemporary African football. Standardizing the present
League must notch supreme on the programs of the Liberian FA before it
thinks of adding another segment.
With Liberian clubs consistently reneging on participating in
continental competitions because of the lack of finances, the bringing
into the fore of a Premier League will only bash as ridicule.
Worldwide, the epitome of holding a Premier League is to develop
the standard of the teams, set a benchmark for the players and more
importantly lift the morale of the national Association.
Additionally, a Premier League is treated with a tremendous
amount of recognition because of its magnetizing nature- high quality
football and ideal team organization.
Without sounding cynical, we can now perhaps view the
vital traits associated with a Premier League by means of a little
more caution.
VENUE:
Before a Premier League begins, the Football body must have put into
action at least four standard venues to ensure the instantaneous
holding of matches at crucial occurrence of the League. Judging from
Liberia standard of a Premier League for eight teams, four venues and
a simple coverage facility at each venue fit this requirement.
SPONSORSHIP:
To ensure a successful Premier League, which required immense assets,
the Football body must have at least sought sponsorship from a
reputable business entity. The key to this sponsorship is to abet the
Football body defeats some of the financial challenges. And because
football is a money-spinning business, the sponsor will help step-ups
the revenue generating capacity at each match to ensure that their
sponsorship doesn’t land on rocky grounds.
FINANCE:
A club featuring in a Premier League club must be able to account for
a required amount of finances to meet the operating cost associated
with its participation. The monetary quality of such club shouldn’t
fall underneath the target set forth by the football body.
CLUB:
A club featuring in a Premier League must have existed for a little
over three years with some laurels to its name in the last two First
Division Leagues.
Besides, such club must have qualified for this level and is able to
guarantee for at least 100 supporters/fans at each of its matches
considering Liberia standard of a Premier League.
PLAYER:
A player aged 17 or more must be eligible to feature in a Premier
League and must have at least played in 75% or more matches for his
former club.
EQUIPMENT:
A club featuring in a Premier League must be able to showcase decent
outfits befitting a Premier League club. Such club must be able to
present two separate outfits at each match to avoid color clashes.
Having outlined a few nuts and bolts to ensuring a well-mannered
Premier League, the Liberia Football Association must be adept
sufficiently to fashion a blueprint that would consent to a successful
Premier League.
