'County Meet' Begins November

Reliable information gathered by our sports desk reveals that the
National County meet will start on November 26, 2006 and will run up
to January 20, 2007.
The tournament, under the banner of peace and reconciliation, is
being organized by the Ministry of Youth & Sports in collaboration
with the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to our source, this year's county meet will include
football, kickball and basketball and the participating teams have
been divided into four regions comprising 3-4 teams in each region.
A guideline governing the tournament says each participating team
will submit at least fifty five players for all three disciplines
(twenty five for football, fifteen for kickball and fifteen also for
basketball).
The guideline says further that all current and former players in
the National Football, Basketball, and Kickball leagues will not be
allowed to participate in the competition.
The tournament will kick off on November 26 with Grand Gedeh playing
River Gee in the City of Zwedru while Maryland engages Sinoe in
Harper City.
The fifteen counties are divided into groups in the preliminary and
first round. By January 6, 2007 the quarter finals stage will begin
with the winner of group A engaging the runner-up of Group B while
Group B, winner will play group A runner-up on January 7, 2007.
On January 10, 2007, the winner of Group C will face Group D
runners-up and Group D winner plays group G runner up on January 11.
The Semi finals of the tournament commence on January 13, 2007 while
the Grand Final will be played on January 20, 2007. The winner will
be presented a giant sized trophy.
